In December 2018, Samuels & Associates and DJ Properties LLC formed a partnership to co-develop the Project. Samuels & Associates brings its considerable expertise in placemaking, financing, construction and project management, to the table in support of this dynamic, mixed-use project. Exemplified by projects such as the Fenway, Samuels has a proven track record of knitting neighborhoods together through placemaking from the ground floor up.
The partnership will continue to work collaboratively with the community to move this important source of new housing, ground floor retail activation, and public spaces forward. The goal of the Washington Village Project continues to be to improve the Andrew Square neighborhood for existing and future residents and visitors consistent with the community’s vision.
The project was unanimously approved and the development team is in the process of expediting construction documents for the phase I construction program. The construction documents are scheduled to be completed in May of 2020 with construction scheduled to commence in July of 2020. Construction of the first phase will take 18-24 months with an estimated cost of $130,000,000 including land cost.
