Dave has extensive experience in real estate. His 30 year career began while he was still a student at Bryant University. His modest start has given him a passion for creating middle-income housing. Today, he is a founder of Core Investments in Boston. Prior to founding Core Investments, Dave was a founder and partner at Helm Investments, a real estate investment firm focusing on residential properties in Boston.

Dave is a proud supporter of numerous local and national charitable organizations, including Smile Train, Project Bread, Special Olympics, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Feed the Children, Food for the Poor, Salvation Army, Wounded Warrior Project, Soldiers’ Angels, Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Covenant House, and Catholic Relief Services.



tim3Tim Mackie – Vice President of Development & Asset Services

A graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology, Tim joined Core in 2005 with an extensive background in residential and commercial construction management. He has over 15 years of experience managing residential and commercial projects in the greater Boston area.

Tim heads up Core’s asset operations managing development, construction and property operations. Tim brings excellent organizational, management and leadership skills to each phase of the development and construction process.  He has deep knowledge and experience successfully navigating the complex permitting and entitlement process in the city of Boston.






Brett Lazar – Managing Director

Over the course of his 25+ year career, Brett has built a solid reputation of financial and ethical integrity.  He’s especially demonstrated keen ability to bridge tactical and strategic initiatives to drive optimization and success. Brett has helped build world-class organizations through the seamless integration of processes, people and technology.

Brett has been working with Core since June 2015 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Lehigh University and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the F.W. Olin Graduate School at Babson College. Brett has held executive positions in finance and operations for construction, technology and real estate development companies.

A Bentley University graduate and a Massachusetts Certified Mediator, Richard Kennedy’s commercial banking career spanned a period of nearly one half century in the Boston and New England marketplace.  A well-known and highly respected banker, 20 years of Mr. Kennedy’s career was spent at the executive management level during periods of thriving economies to deep recessions to an unparalleled interest rate environment.  Richard brings this extensive expertise to his role as Financial Consultant for Core.

Recognized by his peers as an excellent business developer and high revenue producer, Mr. Kennedy was equally known for his ability to negotiate sensible Loan Modification Agreements to both the corporate and commercial real estate borrower for his own bank and loan participation situations in and out of the Federal Bankruptcy Court.  Mr. Kennedy’s ability to reach sound banking decisions in the work-out arena is clearly demonstrated by the soundness and profitability of his bank’s loan portfolio when bank failures across the United States were occurring on a weekly basis.


Jess1Jessica Blackerby

Jessica joined Core Investments in 2006.  As Controller, she is responsible for the cash management, accounting and financial reporting for all of Core’s real estate operations and investments.  She also manages the office and accounting staff, assists with leasing agreements and property acquisition due diligence.

Jessica is a graduate of Nichols College, where she earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. After graduation she began working at Staples, Inc. headquartered in Framingham, MA where she was responsible for financial reporting in their General Ledger department for five regional sales offices across the U.S   She later began working at Modern Continental Enterprises, a residential and commercial real estate development company based in Cambridge, MA.  In her five years at Modern, Jessica grew rapidly with the company to the position of accounting manager, responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting and cash management for real estate divisions in the Northeast, Southeast and hotel operations in St. Lucia. She also supervised the accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll processes.
